Pujiono Cahyo Widianto laughing maniacally while his child bride is petrified
It’s Valentine’s Day, so let’s celebrate with this story of true love between a middle-aged man and his 12-year-old bride. Now excuse me while I vomit.
Pujiono Cahyo Widianto, 48, whose name has colloquially become synonymous with “pervert,” is a pedophile of the highest degree. A respected Islamic cleric, he chose to be like the prophet Muhammad (pigs be upon him) and marry a prepubescent girl (with the consent of her parents.) Word of the wedding got out, and Widianto was arrested for the deed. In some provinces of Indonesia, like Aceh, however, his child bride would have been much more unlucky – child marriages are practiced and respected by the more devout masses.
Widianto, when interviewed, said that since this was his first marriage, he was entitled to up to three more wives under Islam. He announced his intentions to marry a 9-year-old and a 7-year-old as two of his other brides. His first wife was returned to her parents upon his arrest. Widianto claimed he had not sexually abused the girl, intending to wait until she reached puberty to have sex with her. His wife being prepubescent didn’t stop the prophet Muhammad, and so I highly doubt it would’ve stopped a strict Muslim like Widianto.
What’s more disturbing is that Widianto owned an Islamic school. Pedophiles like Widianto often choose jobs that enable them easy access to children. Imagine all the children whose parents trusted him… and how many abuses he got away with. It’s sickening. At least now the pedophile bastard is behind bars.
