Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi

Some people really don’t like MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. Nigerian Islamic cleric Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi, who is currently based at a mosque in Saudi Arabia, is not one of those people. In fact, Gumi wants to see more 12-year-olds getting prego – as long as they’re married, of course, otherwise that would be haram (forbidden) in Islam. On a recent Facebook post, Gumi outlined his support for child marriage and preteen pregnancies that has caused controversy across the globe (much less so in Muslim areas where pedophilia is accepted, however.)

“Who determines the marriage age limit? Definitely it will not be a bunch of liberal senators in a country majority of its citizen are Muslims.” Yet again wee see Muslims being unwilling to accept secular law. However, the left wing among us still considers Islam to be a misunderstood religion of peace when it clearly wants nothing to do with our civilized, advanced society. Gumi also assumes that the Muslim majority of his country would also want to legalize child marriage, which says more about Muslims than it does him – he’s safely willing to bet that Muslims would blindly follow the footsteps of Muhammad (pigs be upon him) instead of standing up for children’s rights.

“Islam as pragmatic religion thus permit any individual, matured to engage in legal marriage to embrace all categories of human desires and protect teenagers from irresponsible pregnancy.” Uhh, protecting teenagers from “irresponsible” pregnancy by having them married off to much older men without their consent so they can be molested? Yeah, you’re definitely “protecting” them… sick f*ck. Islam is nowhere near pragmatic either. Otherwise its followers wouldn’t be more concerned with moral absolutes and weird washing rituals than with making the world a better place.

Gumi is also a filthy liar. Despite his vast knowledge of Islam, he stated in a recent speech: “…there is no compulsion and forceful conversion to our Islamic religion.” Let’s see what Sahih Muslim has to say about that. Sahih Muslim 19:4294: “When you meet your enemies who are polytheists [Christians…], invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them … If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah’s help and fight them…” Basically, non-Muslims have the choice to either convert, be extorted, or be slaughtered. Hmm, that’s not forcing people to convert at all…

Now here’s where Gumi goes way off the deep end. He claims that the Nigerian government’s campaign against the Islamist Boko Haram militants that have been ravaging the country for years is really a campaign to massacre Muslims. He accused Christian members of Nigeria’s government of organizing strikes against Muslims: “They [Nigerian government] aimed to destroy the Muslims as a whole by decapitating their leadership thus exposing the Ummah [Islamic spiritual community] to perpetual subservience.” Hmm, maybe the government wouldn’t be targeting Islamists if Islamists weren’t ransacking cities, assassinating security forces, and subjugating entire regions by enforcing sharia law. Perhaps Islam would experience greater tolerance if it showed greater tolerance… but that is diametrically opposite the nature of that religion.

The mosque at which Gumi led worship before his recent move to Saudi Arabia is the one that Christmas Day bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who attempted to blow up an airplane, attended. Hmm, I wonder where Abdulmutallab became “radicalized”…

Gumi needs to meet some pregnant 12-year-old brides and hear their stories, their pain, their anguish they wanted no part of – if he has any shred of humanity, he’ll change this views. Then again, he’s a Muslim so he’s probably more concerned with following Muhammad’s example than doing what is right.
